I think that I'm doing very well on my essay but something I am having trouble with is identifying the stakeholders in a way that doesnt just say "the stakeholders are...." I dont quite know how to incorporate it into the essay in a solid easy way. I am trying to read other peoples essay in order see how they stated their stakeholders but I cant seem to find where people point this out in there articles either. It is the one thing that I am trying to work on now as the final paper is getting closer, I also need to take a closer look at how my essay fits the Criteria Goals. I have been writing the paper like I believe I should be but have not been taking a critical look at how it pertains to the course goals of English 102.

Conferences

I really liked the outcome of the conferences from this past week because I think it helped A LOT to get personal, face to face feed back. I was really worried about my paper but after the conference I think that I am going to do fine as long as I keep expanding and comparing. Besides my first paragraph which I completely have to rewrite (its crap). I know I still have a lot to do but just knowing that I'm on the right track really helped build my confidence in my paper, and will make writing more easier because I know what I am doing right and wrong.

Research Question.

I still don't think that I have fully came to understand the difference between our research question and controlling purpose, but I will certainly try to come up with a difference in them. My research question is, Does violence in cinema have an effect on the audience and if so than what is this effect? From this I believe that my controlling purpose would be to analyze and understand the different ideas behind violence in cinema and the effect in order to make conclusions of my own and build off of others. I believe that my paper does a better job at stating this than I do, I might modify a little while I finish writing my paper but at the moment that is what my paper is trying to do.

Violence in Media.

I am the only girl of 5 brothers, so obviously growing up I was forced to do what the boys wanted to do. I was a tom boy, I played Mortal Kombat with them, and Tony Hawk, I watched James Bond and Zorro. I played in the creek, and tried to dress exactly like my brothers. Through all this, I saw some pretty violent things. Even now as I am more of a "woman" I love movies like Saw, House of 1000 Corpses, Halloween, Grindhouse, 28 Days Later. All these movies are, to some, horrifically gory and violent. Which is why I want to research the effect violence in media has on its audience, but personally I think I'm the same person. I'm not a violent person, I don't kill animals, or hit people. I want to know the different view points to better understand why violence in media has gotten as bad as it is.

Research Question.

For my research topic I chose to do the "effect violence in media (mainly film) has on the audience". I would like to further explore this topic to more understand if things like violence in movies make people violent, or why it is certain viewers enjoy watching more violent movies than others. I hope to understand more of the thrill behind watching a movies with violence and gore. It is easy to notice that there is a distinct difference between people who love directors like Rob Zombie, and those who don't. I would like to explore why there is that difference, or what makes that difference. I would like the audience to understand more why it is they might like these movies or why they don't, but on a deeper note than just disliking blood maybe. I realize that a lot of the articles I read might be one sided or experiments on this subject, but I believe if I read enough articles I can come up with a very well written research paper.
